How to Put Some Spook in Your Stream!

Fellas and gals, October is here — and you know what that means: pumpkins on the porch, ghouls in the closet, and viewers looking for a frightfully good time! Don’t let your channel look plain while the season’s in full swing. Here’s how to make your broadcast the cat’s pajamas:

  1. Dress Up Your Broadcast! - Swap in a Halloween overlay or cobweb frame. Even a simple “BOO!” alert makes the audience feel like they’ve stepped into the season.

  2. Play Along with the Crowd! - You don’t need to be a horror hound to join the fun. Try a few rounds of your main game’s Halloween event (Overwatch 2’s spooky modes, for instance) or dip your toes into a seasonal indie like Mina the Hollower.

  3. Host a Spooky Special! - Announce a one-night event: “Monster Mash Marathon,” “Ghoul’s Game Night,” or “Pumpkin Palooza.” Folks love a theme, and you’ll have ready-made clips to share after the show.

Simple Formula:

A dash of costume for your channel

+

a splash of seasonal gameplay

=

a frightfully fun stream that turns curious passers-by into regulars.

So put on your best broadcaster’s smile, cue up the eerie music, and let October work its magic for you!

SIN'S CONFESSIONAL

With October comes pumpkin-spiced everything: coffee, cakes, and even snacks that probably shouldn’t be pumpkin-flavored. Just a week ago I was in California visiting family. Some of you may already know one of my sisters just had a baby boy — my nephew. With his arrival, there are now five living generations of our family! It’s been wild to grow up with my great-grandparents still around, hearing about their meet-cute and the wacky adventure that took them through Canada, Michigan, Utah, and finally settling in California. Their stories feel larger than life, almost like folklore passed down at the dinner table.

That’s the part I’ve been sitting with this season — how much we are shaped by the stories we inherit and the ones we choose to tell. October has a way of reminding us of that, whether through family history, old ghost tales, or even the games we play together. Every match, every shared laugh or loss, becomes part of our own little history here in Sin City.

So while I’m sipping something too sweet and thinking about legacies, I also want to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween. May your October be filled with good stories — whether they’re spooky, silly, or the kind you’ll still be retelling years from now.

Until then, Sin City -- keep your lanterns lit, and your cups warm.
